Hiking or cycling on the Himmerland Trail
It’s easy to get out and enjoy the breathtaking nature of Himmerland – either on foot or by bike. Take route 57 from Hobro to Løgstør via Aars and get off at the stop “Himmerlandsstien.” From here, your hike or cycling trip begins.
The Himmerland Trail stretches for 79 km, with plenty of points along the way where you can hop off and take the bus back to Hobro. Bus stops close to the trail can be found in Vindblæs, Gatten, Søttrup, Hornum, Aars, Østrup, and Aalestrup.

Bring your bike on the bus
You are welcome to bring your two-wheeled bike on NT buses and trains, provided there is space. Unfortunately, cargo bikes, bike trailers, or similar are not permitted. If you travel with a Rejsekort (travel card), you can bring your bike for free on NT buses and NJ trains. Without a travel card, you can purchase a bike ticket directly from the driver.
Culture and History
If you love diving into culture and local history, Hobro, Mariager, and Hadsund offer plenty of opportunities. In Hobro, you can visit the Kunstetagerne or explore the Hobro Art Collection, while Mariager invites you to stop by KunstBoxen.
There are good bus connections between Hobro, Mariager, and Hadsund on route 234 – both weekdays and weekends. If you’d like more, you can hop on the train from Hobro and continue your journey.
If you get off in Aars on route 57 from Hobro or route 52 from Aalborg, you can also experience the famous art of Per Kirkeby.
