Hvalpsund Marina

Welcome to Hvalpsund Marina – a modern harbour by the Limfjord, offering a cosy atmosphere and plenty of activities and experiences throughout the summer.

Experience the authentic marina atmosphere of the Limfjord at the harbour in Hvalpsund. The town is a maritime paradise with access to three fjords – the Limfjord, Skive Fjord and Hjarbæk Fjord – making Hvalpsund Marina a natural gathering point for sailors. Here you’ll be greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and there is always a friendly soul nearby ready to lend a hand. During the summer months, you can also enjoy the special local tradition where a trumpeter plays the sun down every evening at the harbour.

Modern facilities

The marina offers all the modern amenities a sailor might need: toilets and showers, a lounge, a newly renovated kitchen, a washing machine and dryer, and a cosy barbecue area where you can enjoy the sunset over the Limfjord. Hvalpsund Marina is also ideal for families with children, featuring a playground, beach and equipment for crab catching – perfect for the crab racing track by the clubhouse.

Just a ten-minute walk from the marina you’ll find local shops where you can get everything you need for your stay in Hvalpsund.

In the large white building by the harbour you’ll find Hvalpsund Pakhus, serving delicious lunch and dinner dishes with a beautiful view of the fjord. At the ferry harbour you can visit Havnens Oase, offering everything from Italian pizzas and crispy grilled chicken to coffee and ice cream – and it is said to be Hvalpsund’s most famous ice cream house. On the same harbour you’ll also find Hvalpsund Færgekro, which has existed since 1669 and is today run by the fifth generation.

The summer town by the Limfjord

Hvalpsund attracts both locals and tourists during the summer with its maritime atmosphere, lovely beaches and many activities along the fjord. The town is also a favourite among nature lovers, as it is located on the Louns Peninsula – a scenic area with beautiful hiking routes, almost completely surrounded by water.

Experiences in and around Hvalpsund

At the ferry harbour in Hvalpsund, you can rent bicycles by the hour or day or try out SUP boards and kayaks. Jump on the bike and ride to Hvalpsund Familie Camping, which has its own Put & Take lake where you may be lucky enough to hook a trout.

Just 3–4 kilometres from the harbour you’ll find Herregården Hessel, Denmark’s only thatched manor house. All summer long they offer a range of activities giving you an authentic insight into rural life.

From Hvalpsund, the ferry departs for Sundsøre every 30 minutes. Here you’ll find Brænderiet Limfjorden, where during summer you can enjoy the dish of the day and taste their freshly brewed beer on the cosy terrace.
