Hobro Marina
Welcome to Hobro Marina – surrounded by scenic nature, warm hospitality, and a sea of experiences on land.
With its beautiful location at the innermost point of Denmark’s longest – and perhaps most scenic – fjord, Hobro Marina is an ideal stop on your sailing journey. The town at the end of the fjord is the largest along Mariager Fjord and is known for its stunning natural surroundings, rich history, and UNESCO-recognised attractions.
The marina offers a cosy and maritime atmosphere, where sailors from near and far gather. The hospitality is genuine – especially from the members of the local sailing club, who are always ready to lend a helping hand and share tips on what to experience in the area.
The clubhouse is uniquely situated on the hillside, offering a fantastic view over the fjord. As a guest sailor, you have free access to all facilities – including a kitchen, showers, toilets, and free Wi-Fi. Outside, you'll find both a playground and a barbecue hut – just remember to bring your own charcoal for the grill.
Just one kilometre from the marina lies Hobro town centre, where you can enjoy the pleasant local atmosphere and stock up on supplies in the many grocery stores.
Discover Hobro – where history and nature come together
In Hobro, history, nature, and culture blend seamlessly. The town is especially known for its ties to the Viking Age – not least because of Fyrkat ring fortress, located just a few kilometres from the town centre. The fortress was built during the reign of Harald Bluetooth in the 10th century and is now a part of the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its significance in Viking society.
Next to the fortress, you’ll find the Fyrkat Viking Museum, where reconstructed longhouses, traditional crafts, and everyday Viking life bring the past to life. You can walk the Fyrkat Path, a scenic 2.6-kilometre route that connects the town centre to the fortress.
At Hobro Harbour, visit the Museum of Pleasure Boats, located in the old warehouses. Here, an exciting exhibition awaits, featuring historical boats, vintage tools, and classic sailing equipment – everything a sailor’s heart could wish for.
Another highlight is Bramslev Bakker, a hilly natural area where the popular Panorama Route attracts hikers from all over the country. The trail starts at the harbour and winds through the undulating landscape along the fjord. At 10 kilometres long and with spectacular views, it is also Denmark’s first certified hiking route.
Taste your way through Hobro
Hobro offers a wide range of interesting shops and great eateries, where both locals and visitors can find something to suit every taste.
A popular spot is Café K, located at Hobro Marina. Here, you can relax and enjoy the view over the fjord with a cup of coffee or a chilled glass of white wine in hand.
In the heart of the town centre, you'll find Bies Bryghus – a modern microbrewery with historical roots. It also houses a restaurant serving classic Danish dishes of high quality, all with a view of the brewery’s gleaming copper kettles.
Just outside the town lies Restaurant Bramslev Bakker, renowned for its seasonal menus made with locally sourced ingredients. Combined with the breathtaking view of the surrounding hills, it’s one of the area’s most popular dining destinations.
Hobro’s food scene is strong across the board. Both Restaurant Uafhængig and the restaurant at Hotel Bramslevgaard are worth a visit for their excellent quality and focus on fresh, local produce.
