Havnø Mill

Experience Havnø Mill – North Jutland’s oldest working windmill by Mariager Fjord

Havnø Mill is a historic gem near Hadsund – a beautiful thatched Dutch-style windmill from 1842 and the oldest preserved windmill in North Jutland, still turning gracefully in the wind. Originally, it ground barley for export and flour for the employees of Havnø Manor. Today, the mill has been beautifully restored and now operates as a working museum. Step inside to explore its fascinating history, see the mighty sails turn when the weather allows, and on special days, watch flour being ground on the mill’s original stones – a rare experience of living cultural heritage.

The mill is set in a unique landscape between Mariager Fjord and Lounkær Forest, making it a perfect stop on a trip through Himmerland – perhaps combined with a hike, a bike ride, or a picnic in the countryside.
