Hiking trail in Uhrehøje Plantation (circular route, 7 km, yellow route)

There are four hiking trails in Uhrehøje and Myrhøj Plantation, which can advantageously be combined. The yellow trail is 7 km long and takes you through the plantation’s impressive natural scenery.

In the heart of Vesthimmerland’s nature, the Uhrehøje and Myrhøj Plantations hide four varied hiking routes, each offering unique nature experiences.

Here you can experience everything from peaceful forest paths and open heathlands to bird-rich bogs and old gravel pits. Whether you prefer a short, relaxed walk or a longer hike through hilly terrain, you’ll find a route to suit you.

Lace up your shoes and let the scents, sounds, and landscapes of the forest guide you into nature.

Starting point for the hiking route

By car or bicycle

Park at the parking area at Farsøvej 95. This is also the starting point for the white and green routes.

Along Farsøvej is the house belonging to Uhrehøje – Teambuilding and Event, which can be rented for corporate events, parties, or holidays. The house is not open to the public.

The MTB club has installed a defibrillator at the house – which everyone is of course welcome to use.

By public transport

If you arrive by public transport, the nearest bus stop is located 1.6 km from the parking area. The stop is called “Sjørup Gårde (Farsøvej/Vesthimmerlands Kommune)” and is served by bus line 522 operated by NT (Nordjyllands Trafikselskab).

  • Use Rejseplanen.dk or the NT app for the exact route from your starting point.
  • Check if your bus requires advance booking – especially Telebus lines (typically 522).
  • Important: Check timetables and booking requirements.

Good to know about marking, type, and length

The yellow circular route (7 km) in Uhrehøje Plantation is a loop that follows both gravel roads, pleasant forest roads, and small forest paths.

After 300–400 metres, you pass the “Star Junction,” where 4–5 forest roads meet. Here you will find an overview map of the entire plantation.

Good to know about terrain, difficulty level, and accessibility

The route is gently undulating and follows good forest paths.

Please note

You should be prepared to pass through quite a few spider webs – there is plenty of activity in nature.

The route crosses the MTB trail at several points.

There are two defibrillators along the route: one at the starting point at Farsøvej 95 and another at the Madpakkehuset on Fragtrupvej.

What you can experience on the hiking route

  • Climbing course: Just after the start, you will find a climbing/activity course on your right-hand side. It can be used at your own risk.

  • Burial mounds: You will pass several historic burial mounds.

  • Interesting information boards: Along the route, you can explore the information boards and, for example, read the legend of Fredbjerg Church.

  • Raspberry bushes: In summer, you can fill your pockets with delicious raspberries.

  • Blooming heather: When the heather blooms in autumn, the heathland turns into a beautiful purple carpet.
