Hiking route in Uhrehøje Plantation (circular, 2.5 km, red route)
In the heart of Vesthimmerland’s nature, the Uhrehøje and Myrhøj Plantations hide four varied hiking routes, each offering unique nature experiences.
Here you can experience everything from peaceful forest paths and open heathlands to bird-rich bogs and old gravel pits. Whether you prefer a short, relaxed walk or a longer hike through hilly terrain, you’ll find a route to suit you.
Lace up your shoes and let the scents, sounds, and landscapes of the forest guide you into nature.
Starting point for the hiking route
By car or bicycle
If you want to walk the red route (2.5 km) separately, we recommend parking on Fragtrupvej by the small picnic house. The Uhrehøje MTB Club has established a gravel parking area that is free for everyone to use.
After parking, walk 200 metres up the gravel road. You will see an open area and the first red arrow into the forest.
If you want to combine it with, for example, the green route, you can park at Farsøvej 95, where there is water, a compost toilet, and a shelter area.
By public transport
The nearest bus stop is 850 metres from the parking area. The stop is called “Fredbjerg (Fredbjergvej/Vesthimmerlands Kommune)” and is served by bus lines 112 and 522 under NT (Nordjyllands Trafikselskab).
- Use Rejseplanen.dk or the NT app for the exact route from your starting point.
- Check if your bus requires advance booking – especially Telebus lines (typically 522).
- Important: Check timetables and booking requirements.
Good to know about marking, type, and length
The short red hiking route (2.5 km) in Uhrehøje Plantation is a circular route along pleasant forest paths in hilly terrain and across a heath with several burial mounds.
Please note
The red route passes through a livestock fence across the heath. In several places, the route is crossed by the MTB track. The MTB track is marked with arrows with a white border.
What you can experience on the hiking route
- Burial mounds: On this route, you’ll pass a heath with several historic burial mounds.
- Flowering heather: When the heather blooms in late summer, the heath transforms into a beautiful purple carpet.

Food and drink
