Angling at Simested Å

Simested Å winds gently through the landscape, offering anglers a calm and peaceful fishing experience. The water is clear, with excellent opportunities to catch fish – especially trout.

The name Simested Å is well known among Danish sea trout anglers. The river varies between 4 and 8 metres in width, and the water flow provides a steady to good current for most of the year. Along the association’s stretch, there are many deep pools, and careful nature management has created optimal conditions with plenty of natural hiding places for the fish.

In addition to being an excellent sea trout river, Simested Å also supports a strong population of brown trout. Fly fishing is particularly popular in May, when the long, light summer evenings set the scene for peaceful hours along the riverbank.

The stock of rainbow trout is limited, but every year a few fish are caught – often in sizes that deliver a powerful and memorable fight.

Fishing here is complemented by rich nature experiences. The river winds through a beautiful landscape where roe deer, hares and foxes are frequently seen. Otters also inhabit the area, and along the river you will encounter a diverse birdlife. The kingfisher may suddenly flash past as a streak of blue, snipe drum in the meadow grasses, and herons stand patiently along the banks.
